Midgett-Nicholson and Waugh join NC LIVE

We are pleased to announce two appointments to the staff of NC LIVE: Amelia Midgett-Nicholson as Community Engagement Librarian effective 27 May 2019, and Devon Waugh as Instruction Librarian effective 3 June 2019.

Amelia Midgett-NicholsonAs Community Engagement Librarian, Amelia Midgett-Nicholson will develop and implement a cohesive Communications, Marketing, and Community Engagement program to ensure that NC LIVE remains closely aligned with the needs of its member libraries and that the value of NC LIVE is broadly known by librarians, patrons, and the general public. Through virtual and in-person events, communications, and promotions, Midgett-Nicholson will help libraries utilize the content, programs, and services available through NC LIVE.

Midgett-Nicholson currently serves as a Research and Instruction Graduate Assistant at Davis Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH), as well as an Assessment and User Experience Intern at Duke University Libraries. Previously, Midgett-Nicholson served as a Global Engagement Fellow at the Atkins Library, University of North Carolina at Charlotte; a Records and Briefs Assistant at the Kathrine R. Everett Law Library, UNC-CH; and a Library Associate at the Greensboro Public Library. Midgett-Nicholson will receive the Master of Science in Library Science from UNC-CH in May 2019. She holds a BA in History with a minor in French Language from The American University.

Devon WaughAs Instruction Librarian, Devon Waugh will ensure that library professionals across the state are familiar with NC LIVE resources, know how and when to use them, and can effectively integrate them into their local library’s instruction and programming. Waugh will lead all aspects of NC LIVE’s statewide instruction program, including the design and delivery of in-person training sessions as well as the development of online tutorials and documentation.

Waugh currently serves as Research and Design Graduate Assistant at the House Undergraduate Library, UNC-CH, as well as Library Services Tutor for the Academic Support Program for Student Athletes. Previously, Waugh served as a Research and Instruction Intern at the Duke University Libraries in the Sallie Bingham Center for Women’s History & Culture, and as a Special Education Teacher at Northern Vance High School in Henderson, NC.

Waugh will receive the Master of Science in Information Science at UNC-CH in May 2019. She holds a BA in Journalism and English from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
